Manipal: 3 including student arrested for peddling ganja

Udupi: Three persons, including a student were arrested for peddling ganja at Manipal on Wednesday.

Ganja weighing 1.5 kg worth Rs 75,000 was seized from them, police said.

Police raided an apartment in Hega village based on credible information.

Shashank (25), a student who lived at the apartment and Adil (36), a peddler from Karkala who also dealt in real estate business, were arrested and about 300 grams of ganja was seized from them.

Later, based on the information given by Adil, Naushad (27) native of Karkala was arrested on Hiriadka-Karkala road and about 1 kg 100 grams of Ganja was seized from him.

Initial investigation revealed that Adil and Naushad, were peddled narcotics on instructions from Karkala native Imran Khan Shakeel. They sold ganja procured from Kasaragod’s Uppala, police added.

As Shakeel is currently living abroad, District Superintendent of Police Hackay Akshay Machhindra has directed to form a team headed by Manipal Police Inspector and issue a look out notice against him.

Further, investigation is underway.
