MIT to host 3rd IEEE Int’l Conference

Manipal: Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE will host the third edition of IEEE international conference on  Distributed Computing, VLSI, Electrical Circuits and Robotics in association with IEEE Mangalore Subsection on August 11 and 12 at the Sir MV Seminar Hall in MIT. Dr Vinod Thomas, Registrar Evaluation MAHE will inaugurate the Conference at 9.30 am.

The host for the conference, MIT Director Dr. D Srikanth Rao briefing media persons said that the earlier two were organized at NIT, Surathkal and MITE, Moodbidri. He added, “2019 IEEE DISCOVER will attract people working in diverse fields of Distributed Computing, Software Engineering, VLSI, Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Circuits, Robotics and Healthcare”.

As General Chair for this conference from the host institute, and Chairman of IEEE Mangalore Sub-section Dr. Manohara Pai M., is responsible for the overall management. Dr. Annappa from NIT, Surathkal is General Chair from IEEE Mangalore Sub-Section”.

The team of Organizing Chairs are: Dr. Radhika M Pai, Dr. M. Sathish Kumar, Dr. Ajitha Shenoy, and Dr. Ujjwal Verma, from MIT Manipal, India and Dr. Niranjan U. C., from Manipal Dot Net Pvt. Ltd., India.

Giving information about the conference Dr Manohar Pai said that it was designed to create a platform for researchers from academia and industry, practising engineers, and students. Being the premier IEEE conference of Mangalore region, it is financially and technically sponsored by IEEE Bangalore Section. In addition, the State Bank of India is a major sponsor. The conference is approved by IEEE, USA and the proceeding shall appear in IEExplore digital library.

Dr Pai said that three eminent researchers from India and abroad would deliver the keynote address. Prof. Navakanta Bhat, Professor, IISc, Bangalore will talk on “Sensor Diversity and Scaling: New Paradigm for Emerging Electronics”, Prof. Arkady Zaslavsky, Professor, Deakin University, Australia will talk on “Bringing IoT and AI together to enable real-time awareness” and Prof Sheldon S. Williamson from the University of Ontario-Institute of Technology, Canada will speak on “Electric Energy Storage Systems and Smart Charging Infrastructures for Transportation Electrification and Autonomous, E-mobility”.

“The conference received 190 papers from researchers in India, China and Europe. The number has been pruned to 30 for presentation during the conference. Two pre-conference workshops have also been planned with resource persons from Industry. The two workshops are “RF Tutorial” conducted by KarMic Industries, Manipal and “Demystifying deep learning using MATLAB” conducted by MathWorks, Bangalore,” Dr Pai added.
