Mangaluru: The process of acquiring additional 117.5 acres of land for the construction of the four-lane concrete road between BC Road - Addahole along the national highway 75 between Mangaluru-Bengaluru will be started soon. A new notification in this connection was sent buy the union road and highway ministry on Jan 31st. Thus the problem being faced by the work here has been solved and the additionally required land is expected to be acquired by a period of 6 months. Hence, there are signs that post the monsoon, the work may gather pace.
The survey numbers that were left off from the main notification and for the acquiring of the additional land, a notice has been sent to the public. Under column 3C (1), a 20 day period has been provided for the submission of any objections to the notification at offices of the Special Land Acquisition Officer and concerned authority of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The work on Addahole-BC Road four-laning was started on March 28th 2017. During the last monsoon, landslides were witnessed at some locations along the stretch due to the incessant rains. Besides, more land was required for the expansion of the road and hence the land was identified. Altogether, the concrete highway works costing Rs 821 crore was started by leveling the land besides the old road.

Minimum 6 months for land acquisition!
If there are any objections to the notification for the additional acquisition of land, the special land acquisition officer will inspect it. Only after it is finalized will the officials carry out measurements and decided the value. If there are additional trees and plants to be cut down, permission is required from the Forest Department. Later, notice will be served to those concerned and land acquisition will be started. All this process might take at least 6 months, inform sources from the department.
