The deceased has been identified as Rakshit Poojary (20), the son of Ramesh Poojary. He was a resident of Shirva Manibettu Totadamane and a second-year BCA student at Shirva MSRS College.
The lightning struck on Thursday evening, while Rakshit had been taking a bath. He was found lying on the ground and was immediately taken to Manipal Hospital by his family. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at 10 pm.
Kapu MLA Suresh Shetty Gurme has expressed his condolences over the untimely death of the student. He has also stated that he will help seek compensation from the government for the deceased’s family.
