Talking to the media before inaugurating the JDS office in Basavanagudi, HDK accused the BJP of erecting Kempegowda’s statue for attracting votes in the upcoming Assembly elections. “BJP thinks it can bag Vokkaliga votes by erecting a statue. BJP leaders are in delusion and people will jolt them out of their delusional beliefs,” he said.
HDK accused the national parties of sidelining the agenda of development and of playing caste and religion-based politics. Congress and BJP parties corrupt people’s minds in the name of religion and caste, he said.
Further, on the issue of Satish Jarkiholi’s ‘Hindu’ remark, Kumaraswamy said Congress and BJP are playing electoral politics on the sensitive issue. “Doing so isn’t right,” he said.
