No monetary problem
Water is being provided through 141 tankers to 126 villages in 84 GPs. A part of Kundapur and Karkala have been declared to be affected by drought. There is no monetary problem regarding water supply. Action will be taken to create a permanent solution to the water problem. Discussion have been held on the implementation of water conservation and rainwater harvesting. Decision has been taken to desilt 400 drains in the district. Private wells and bore wells are being used. Directions have been given for the implementation of multi-village drinking water project. Even before the election, I have conducted a meeting regarding water problem and given directions. There is opportunity to conduct desiltng through NREGA. The Deputy Commissioner and officials are doing their duties to solve the water problem, said Dr Jayamala.

Only CM knows his pain

Rs 10 lakh compensation to fishermen
The state government has ordered a total compensation of Rs 10 lakh, including Rs 6 lakh from Fishermen Suffering Relife Funds and Rs 4 lakh from the Chief Minister Relief fund to the families of the seven fishermen who were aboard the sunken deep sea trawler Suvarna Tribhuja. The union government must also provide the highest compensation, informed Dr Jayamala.
