‘Get Quarantive’: A collective whose online workshops kept families engaged amid lockdown

With schools being shut in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, Kids have been a lot more anxious and their families have increasingly gravitated towards online worskshops and courses to keep their kids busy. This was the phase where parents struggled to adjust their lives with ‘New Normal’, the children with their high energies needed find a new outlet indoors. Hence, channeling their time and energies in the right direction was the need of the hour.

A workshop is a great way for someone to learn about a particular subject, learn new projects, and methods in order to better you. Attending workshops can help students achieve success in their academic environment by putting these skills into practice.

Learning becomes more effective when it is combined with activity and fun. The best form of wisdom is that which is acquired through experience. Knowledge combined with activity ensures superior and long lasting wisdom.

With the pandemic driving a sudden spike in demand, Heugah life came up with an initiative called “Get Quarantive” which offered ‘Creative Immersion Sessions’ for families during Quarantine. They organized various workshops and sessions for kids as well as parents. The workshops are designed in a manner that will help the children to be active, healthy and happy while they are at home.

Reddy Venkatesh founder of Heugah life, said, “Our vision at Heugah life is to create happy community and happy life. Lockdown was a new concept for people and everybody were reinventing their own boundaries within home, especially with children. That is when “Get Quarantive” started.”

“Get Quarantive” means to get creative during quarantine and the initiative started during the first phase of lockdown. It is a series of online sessions to inspire Creativity during this Quarantine period in the view of dire need of families to engage children creatively as well as unleashing the child in every adult. The group consists of teachers, play practitioners and Therapists who selflessly voluntereed their time for this initiative.

During the 5-week programme, 15 facilitators who are educationists, Teachers and Internationally acclaimed artists from India, Singapore and Japan conducted no-cost immersive themed sessions.

The team of experts in their own fields offered online Free-to-All Live sessions to engage kids and their families beat the lockdown blues. These sessions used the Multiple Intelligence approach which were developmentally appropriate having specific learning outcomes.

The workshops are being conducted in phases of which 2 phases have been concluded and Heugah life offering phase 3 of affordable workshops for families.

The programmes include storytelling, Puppetry, Learning sign language with fun, Sunday family games, Zentangles and Mandala art, Music jamming with families, Crafts through upcycling, Yoga with music and movements, Origami from Hiroshima, Watercolours Crafts, Riddles and mystery stories.

The new framework provides their members complimentary access to Parent support community connecting experts in various fields to ensure well-being and Happiness of Families during these testing times.
