Husband arrested after wife commits suicide

Mangaluru: A married woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Bajpe on Saturday just three days after her husband returned from abroad.

The deceased has been identified as Larifath.

Bajpe police arrested Larifath’s husband Altaf on charges of abetment of suicide based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. He has been booked under section 306, 498A, and 34.

It is gathered that Altaf, a resident of Permude is employed in Qatar and had recently returned to his hometown.

Apart from Altaf, the Bajpe police who are investigating the suicide case has booked five other people.
