Karnataka Cabinet gives green signal to Nandi Hills rope-way project

Bengaluru: The Cabinet approved a Nandi Hills rope-way project which will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 93.4 crore under the public-private partnership model on a Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer basis.

Health Minister K Sudhakar, who is the Chikballapur MLA informed that the rope-way will run a length of 2.93 km and have 18 towers and will take 28 minutes to complete a round trip.

The ropeway will have 50 cabins with a capacity of 10 passengers in each cabin. The project will also include modern amenities for tourists like restaurant, food court and shops, a government official said.

“Apart from its rich biodiversity, trekking trails and scenic beauty, the presence of historic Bhoganandishwara temple makes Nandi Hills a potential must-see tourist destination in Karnataka. I am extremely happy that the long-awaited ropeway project will see the light of the day very soon. With passenger ropeway and other modern amenities, Nandi Hills will become an international tourist destination and will be a significant milestone in the development journey of Chikkaballapura,” IANS quoted Sudhakar expressing his happiness on the cabinet nod for the long-awaited ropeway project.

The ropeway project will also help cut down vehicular traffic to the hill top.
