Karnataka Govt to Start Additional 315 Indira Canteens Except Bengaluru in Jan 2018

Bengaluru: Karnataka state government has decided to construct 315 canteens by the end of this year in the state except Bengaluru in an attempt to serve food for poor. The government has aimed to distribute breakfast, lunch and supper to 1.29 lakh people at lower price with the launch of new bunch of canteens. According to the proposed project, 276 local self governments, 199 taluk and district headquarters will be benefitted by the 315 canteens.

In a meeting presided by state additional chief secretary on Saturday in the state capital, the members of local self government gave slideshows and other relevant information to the secretary on the proposed canteen project.

The district, taluk administrations have prepared their plans akin to bunch of Indira canteens started in Bengaluru. The new canteens will be managed by urban development department, civic bodies. Local bodies including city corporations, town municipal councils and others have been assigned the responsibility to construct the canteens at their respective areas.

Karnataka state municipal administration aims to build the canteens at various parts of the state by the end of 2017 and has planned to launch service at canteens from January 2018. The construction procedures of the canteen are akin to the canteens launched in Bengaluru, earlier this year.
