As per the order issued by Deputy Commissioner, liquor sale is prohibited in standalone outlets, bars and restaurants, clubs, and hotels within a radius of 5 km at Karike and Kutta villages, near the Kerala border.

Somal has also warned violators of the rule with action under relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Diseases Act.

The Karnataka government had on July 31 made it mandatory for all those entering the state from Kerala and Maharashtra to have negative RT-PCR certificates in view of the high number of cases in these states.
