This edition of Falling Walls Lab India will be hosted by DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service and DWIH – German Centre for Research and Innovation New Delhi, in partnership with the Department of Clinical Embryology, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal.
Falling Walls Lab is a unique competition that provides young researchers and entrepreneurs a platform to present their research project, business plan or social initiative. The challenge is to present their work in just 3 minutes. Sixteen finalists from across the country selected through a rigorous process by field experts will share their top-notch research and entrepreneurial ideas on themes on a variety of subjects.
The finalists this year are from various parts of India such as Jodhpur, Manipal, Kottayam, Pune, Varanasi, Nellore, Karur, Bengaluru, Kanpur and New Delhi. Last year’s India Lab winner hailed from an engineering college in Tamil Nadu – Veera Shanthi Ram M, National Engineering College, Kovilpatti. His topic was one that was very relevant to where he hails from – Breaking the Wall of Inconvenience in Grading Coconuts.

The Falling Walls Foundation initiated on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall is an international platform for leaders from the worlds of science, business, politics, the arts and society. The question around which these events revolve is “Which will be the next walls to fall?” and the answers are often provided through some kind of breakthroughs on the scientific, business or social place.
The international network of Falling Walls Labs includes renowned academic institutions from more than 60 countries. Participants get the opportunity to present their research work, business model, or initiative to peers, a high-calibre, and the general public – in 3 minutes each!
