Mandya: One killed, 25 injured in roof collapse

Mandya: One woman was killed and at least 25 others were injured after an RCC roof they were standing on collapsed Huligerepura Village here on Tuesday.

The deceased had been identified as Puttalingamma (40), the wife of Dyaverasa of Huligerepura village.

Hundreds of villagers had gathered on the roof of the house for viewing the Basaveshwara Kondotsava, a temple ritual on Tuesday morning. However, things turned tragic as the roof suddenly gave way.

It is suspected that overcrowding on the old roof of the house that was constructed about 60 years ago, led to the mishap.

Meanwhile, the injured have been rushed to the Mandya district hospital.
