Mangaluru: Water rationing revised

Mangaluru: The water rationing rule for water supply to the city o far has been revised. The number days without water supply has been brought down to three days from four and the number of days of water supply has been limited to 4 days (96 hours).

This action has been taken with the aim to make sure no drinking water is wasted while being supplied, informed Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil.

According to the revised water rationing rule, there will be no water supply from May 28th to 30th and the water supply shall resume from 31st May at 6am and will be available till 6am of June 4th. Later the water supply will be terminated for 3 days and again restarted for 4 days from June 8th. By then, rains are expected consequently increasing the water level in Netravati River, he explained.

Desilting work started

Desilting work has been started within the limits of Thumbay vented dam. The sand mixed with the silt will be separated and sold, he said.

After the implementation of the sand distribution app, there has been a good response from the people. Till now, 410 applications have come through the app and the supply of sand has been approved for 257 applications. The sand procured during the desilting work at Thumbay dam will be sold during the rainy season. It has been decided to implement the app in the distribution of the sand extracted while desilting the old port, informed the DC.
