Answering to Mr Sandesh Nagaraj of JD(S) on Tuesday, he said the works would be partitioned into two parts. While six lanes would be committed to non-stop movement of vehicles, two lanes on each side of the highway would be service roads. The cost of part one of the venture would be Rs 3,501 crore and right now, the Union Surface Transport Ministry had given clearance for the work amongst Nidaghatta and Bengaluru and Nidaghatta-Mysuru which is being taken up at a cost of Rs 2,911 crore.

Sixty-three percent of land required for the proposed ten-lane road has been procured and the rest would be gained soon. He said a committee headed by the chief secretary was investigating the progress once in a month. The first phase of work is relied upon to be completed in one and a half years.
