Nine killed, six injured in car, truck collision

Vijayapura: Nine persons were killed and six others sustained injuries in a car-truck collision at NH 218 near Chikka Sindagi of Sindagi taluk of Vijayapura district on Friday early morning.

The deceased have been identified as Sagar (25), Chand Basha (24), Azeem (26), Ambarish (28), Shakeer (25), Guru (32), Srinath (30), Younis (27), and Mangsoob (27), all residents Chittapur in Kalaburagi District.  It is gathered that they were returning to their town after a trip to Goa when the accident took place.

Of the six injured, two persons are said to be in a critical condition and are receiving treatment at Vijayapur district hospital.

Traffic movement on National Highway was affected after the accident even as bodies lay on the road. 

Sindagi police rushed to the spot and after initial investigations cleared traffic jam.
