Bengaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has attacked BJP after its State in-charge Arun Singh rejected the possibility of a merger or alliance with the JD(S).

In a series of tweets, Kumarswamy stated that the BJP has been convinced by the outcome of the gram panchayat election that all attempts to finish the JD(S) have failed. It is for this reason that the BJP is hypocritically coming out against an alliance. This is why BJP is spreading rumours of JD(S) joining the NDA.

He clarified that the rumours are not true.

Kumaraswamy further added that he had a much better relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi than most BJP leaders and that he respects Yediyurappa as his senior. He also said that he thinks that the opposition shouldn’t be only for opposing but if BJP jeopardizes the rapport with us then it will hamper the respect for them.

In the third tweet in the thread, he went on to say that there were many who tried to break the party by playing the alliance drama. Who was the one to apply for an alliance from JDS to BJP?  He also dared Arun Singh to reveal the name of the person who presented him with the alliance proposal.

Kumarswamy further asserted that the claims of JD(S) joining the NDA and he being made a Union Minister are all lies.

“With this kind of lure, the BJP is working to poison the minds of the JD(S) activists and the people who support the JD(S). Let the BJP know that this is unethical politics. In 1997, when Deve Gowda stepped down as prime minister, Vajpayee said he would support Deve Gowda and the Janata Dal. However, we rejected the post of the prime minister and the authority at the Centre,” he said.

In the last tweet, he said that ‘their party does not need anyone at present including the BJP. What we need is the development of the State. Despite the adversity, there is enthusiasm and high spirits among our party workers.’
