“The notice issued by the National Womens Commission chief to Dr Parameshwara is totally unwarranted and improper and has been blindly done to gain political mileage and please the BJP government who nominated her,” KPCC Legal cell Chairman C M Dhananjaya said in a statement here.
NCW chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam had issued summons to Dr Parameshwara on January 3 over his statement on the mass molestation of women in Bengaluru on New Year’s Eve and demanded that he apologised to women of for such remarks.
Dhananjaya said the notice itself was defamatory in nature and amounted to undermining the prestige and dignity of Dr Parameshwara.

Dhananjaya also said it is for the Karnataka State Women’s Commission to take stock of the situation, if such an incident has taken place.
He demanded that NWC recall the notice and tender an unconditional apology for issuing the notice, failing which legal action would be initiated against her for defamation.
“I hereby demand that you should at once recall the said notice issued to Dr Parameshwara and tender an unconditional apology for having issued the baseless notice, failing which action as contemplated under law will be initiated against you for defamation,” he said.
Dr Parameshwara had remarked that youngsters western ways were the reason behind the incident of mass molestation in Bengaluru.
