Progressive Thinkers Apologize for Recent Beef Row in Mysuru

Mysuru: According to the sources, members of an organisation of progressive thinkers association apologised for recent beef row at state government run Kalamandira in Mysuru. Beef controversy broke out after some members of a progressive thinkers group distributed beef made food items at the inaugural session of a seminar in Kalamandira which created tensions in Mysuru earlier this week. The seminar was organised by a progressive association, Charvaka Samsthe on the theme, ‘freedom to choose food.’

Speaking to the media persons in Mysuru on Thursday, progressive thinker who took part in the controversial inaugural session of the seminar, former Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Mayor Purushotham and others apologised for the controversy. However, the sources said, BJP’s decision to hold statewide protest against Kalamandira beef row may have forced Purushotham and others to apologise.

Speaking to the journalists, Purushotham alleged, “some of the BJP leaders including Pratap Simha, Shobha Karandlaje and others have exaggerated the beef row creating false opinion among the people on the incident.”
