Mysuru: In the backdrop of several employees of a pharmaceutical company in Mysuru testing positive for Covid 19, doubts were raised that raw materials imported by the company from China was the root cause of the virus outbreak in Mysuru.

Samples drawn from the raw material had been sent for examination and the tests have shown negative for #COVID19.

Patient-52, an employee of the pharma company tested positive for the virus on March 26. Reportedly, he did not have any travel history nor was he a secondary contact. Later on several other employees tested positive for Covid-19.

It was thus suspected that the chemical imports from China, which arrived to Nanjangund via containers was the source of the novel coronavirus infection in the state’s biggest Covid-19 cluster.

In a press note the company has claimed that neither Patient 52 not the other employees who tested positive for Covid 19 have travelled overseas in the last six months. Moreover it also stated that Patient-52 never had any contact with any raw material nor had any role in receiving, transporting, handling or storage of raw materials.
