The petition from PETA was referred to the three-judge bench of the SC, questioning the way in which an ordinance legal process and legal validity of this ordinance and claiming that animal violence is a part of Kambala.
Hearing of this case began on November 6. After arguments on November 13th and 17th, the petition was adjourned to November 24. During the recent hearing on Friday, the lawyer for Karnataka government brought to the notice of the SC bench that Kambala bill has already been passed by the state legislature. Thereafter, the SC bench adjourned hearing in the case to December 12.
Three Kambalas have already been lined up to be held before December 12. Hokkadigoli Kambala is being organized today, with Mangaluru Kambala and Baradibeedu Kambala having been scheduled for December 3 and 9 respectively.
