Senior Officer accused of sexual harassment by women employees at Vidhana Soudha

Bengaluru: A group of Vidhana Soudha women employees have held up an official complaint with the Karnataka State Commission for Women charging sexual and professional harassment by Legislative Assembly Secretary (in-charge) S Murthy.

Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Bai said that she will keep in touch with both Chief Minister and the Legislative Assembly Speaker seeking action against Murthy and that the Commission would enquire into the issue.

“I will keep in touch with the central priest and the Speaker tomorrow itself and request their prompt mediation. I will likewise get a report from the Assembly Secretariat and enquire into the allegations. The issue must be set all right ladies have been persisting badgering and mortification throughout the previous two years. A significant number of them have 20 to 30 years of experience, and it is vital that
there is a sheltered and favourable workplace,” she said.

Bai additionally said this is the only time that the Commission has received such a complaint from women employees of Vidhana Soudha.

One among them has expressed that she has been subjected to inappropriate behaviour by Murthy. Expressing that they work under dread and fear, the ladies have additionally said that Murthy abuses them verbally using obscenities. They also said that they have been sidelined by Murthy because of their gender.
