Mangaluru: “During my tenure as the district-in-charge minister, I have taken strong measures such as closing down illegal massage parlours and skill game centres. We also contained ganja and sand mafia. Sand bazaar app was also introduced to provide sand at reasonable price. Along with people’s representatives, the officials have worked sincerely for implementation of policies,” said former district-in-charge minister U T Khader and complained about the transfer of honest police officers from the district speaking to media here on Saturday, August 3.

“Police commissioner Sandeep Patil, who was doing a tremendous job, has been transferred. Also DCP Hanumantharaya has also been transferred. I request not to transfer good officers. This is not the proper way to transfer such officers in such a hurry. I have written a letter to chief minister B S Yediyurappa regarding the transfer of dedicated officers in the district,” he informed.

“Do not experiment by transferring sincere officers from the district. BJP was in hurry to get power. But cabinet is yet to be formed. Home minister has not been appointed, In such case, why the officers are transferred?” questioned Khader.

“I have also written a letter to union minister Nithin Gadkari to safeguard human lives and protect environment along the national highways. I urge immediate action to stop the spate of suicides from bridges over the rivers along the national highways. 900-meter bridge with low railings is an easy target for garbage disposal also. Suicides from bridges are also on the rise. High railings will prevent people from committing suicide and will also stop people from dumping garbage in to the river. Additional lights and CCTVs should be installed on the bridges to monitor the activities,” advised the former district-in-charge minister.
