Udupi: Belle PDO dismissed from service over financial irregularities

Udupi: Sudhakar Shetty, the current Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) of Belle Gram Panchayat of Kaup Taluk here has been dismissed from service for financial irregularities.

The Commissioner of the Karnataka Panchayat Raj Commissionerate of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department ordered the immediate dismissal of the officer from public service as per Rule No 8 (viii) of the Karnataka State Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1957.

According to the order, the financial irregularities were done when Sudhakar Shetty was serving as PDO of Kukkundoor Gram Panchayat in Karkala. The officer has caused a loss of Rs 34.42 lakhs to the public exchequer.

The action has been initiated following a probe report the Executive Officer of Karkal Taluk Panchayat submitted to the CEO of Udupi Zilla Panchayat found the allegations of misappropriating public funds made against Sudhakar Shetty to be true.
