Udupi: DC bans bus movement in district for 14 days effective 8 pm on July 15

Udupi: The State government has vested the authority for imposing lockdowns to control the spread COVID-19 to the respective districts administrations.

Accordingly, the lockdowns have already been implemented in many districts of the State, including Bengaluru Rural and Urban. Lockdowns have also been imposed in major cities in some districts. Partial lockdowns have also been implemented in some parts of the State.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha after a meeting presided by him decided not to impose a lockdown in the district.

However, from 8 pm on July 15 to July 29, a 14-day period, the borders of the district will be completely sealed. Additionally, all public transport, including private and government buses will be banned from operations for the 14 days in the district.

Hence, there will be no buses plying in the Udupi district from 8 pm on July 15 to July 29.

It was also decided in the meeting that Travel Passes will be issued by the DC for those who have to cross the district borders due to work, emergency or going to the airport.

Grocery shops and other shops will be open, however, the weekly APMC markets will not be permitted.

All religious, political, social gathering and ceremonies will be forbidden. Including public festivals, however, weddings that are already planned can go ahead after obtaining permission from the tehsildar for only 50 people in attendance.
