Bantwal: With the arrival of monsoon the water levels in Netravati River have risen leading to the release of water from Thumbay Dam on Thursday.
The MCC increased the water limit to 6 meters from the previous limit of 5 meteres post March 2018. Presently the water level has fallen to 4.6 meteres. In the months of April and May, the water level had fallen to 5 meters and 5.05 meters. Later, waster was procured from Shabhuru Dam to regain the water level.
The heavy rains of May 31st tremendously increased the water level in Netravati River in turn increasing the water level at the dam to 6.5 meters. The pump sets of many farmers were submerged by this increase in water level. Later, the MCC officials’ immediately released water from the dam and brought the water level to 6 meters.
