Speaking to reporters on Saturday after honouring the statue of former Chief MInister the late Kengal Hanumanthaiah at the Vidhana Soudha, Siddaramaiah said that the BJP can’t trick the electorate, who, he stated, would see through such “political gimmicks”.

“As a Chief Minister of this state, how often did Yeddyurappa go and rest in slums? How often has he interacted with slum occupants? The BJP leaders are pointlessly uncovering themselves through such stunts. Everyone realizes that they are against ghetto improvement, minorities and Dalits. They are in fact against social equity,” he said.

Siddaramaiah likewise said that the BJP was indulging in “dirty politics” by endeavouring to scare Opposition leaders through I-T and ED attacks.

“During the poll, BJP is misusing Central organizations like the I-T office, ED and the Central Bureau of Investigation to terrify and irritate anyone who wants to help us. They will conduct raids on anyone who wants to support us. The Congress was in power a few times. But, it never misused the CBI or different offices to scare its political rivals. I have never observed any political party indulge in such dirty politics before,” he added.

Attacking the BJP for its communal motivation, Siddaramaiah said that the Congress doesnt require lessons from a party which “murdered” Mahatma Gandhi, and which was trying to drive Muslims out of the nation.
