Google reportedly plans to test ‘flexible work week’ when it is safe to reopen offices. Employees will spend at least three days a week on campus, which Google CEO called “collaboration days”, and work from home the remaining days.

Teams will be able to reserve ‘collaboration spaces’ for up to a dozen people, while larger gatherings will take place outdoors.

The new extension of the work from home order by Google will affect “nearly all” of the company’s 200,000 employees.

“We are testing a hypothesis that a flexible work model will lead to greater productivity, collaboration, and well-being,” Pichai wrote in the email.

Google was one of the first companies to ask its employees to work from home due to the pandemic. It has previously delayed the timing by when the employees should return to the office from January next year to July.
