Mangaluru: City police commissioner Sandeep Patil has responded to a complaint tweet by a woman regarding the traffic police imposing fine on her for not possessing emission certificate of her vehicle that was newly acquired just six months back. In response the Mr Patil has asked the traffic ACP to look into the matter.
New vehicles do not require emission certificate for the first year and hence the vehicle user does not do an emission test on ones vehicles. Nonetheless, the cops have fined this vehicle, tweeted Nidhi.
In response tweets, the Commissioner asked the woman to specify the time and place of the incident send the information to the traffic ACP and asked him to look into it. Mr Patil gave the ACP’s number and asked her to call him and provide the details.
Fine returned
After the tweet, Nidhi received back her fine amount after a long argument with the concerned cops. It is not my aim to impose any action against them; on contrary her aim was to make policemen aware that they need to be people-friendly, tweeted Nidhi and also thanked the official for responding.
Inquiry on providing information
Speaking about the matter with “Udayavani’”, traffic ACP Manjunath Shetty said, the police commissioner has already informed me about the complaint regarding the fining of a vehicle which was just 6 months old. The complainant was given my contact number, and an inquiry regarding the issue will be undertaken once she gives a call and provides the required information including the location,” informed the ACP.
