Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the work is being executed at a cost of Rs 1,137 crore excluding the cost of land acquisition cost. It will be completed within the next two years, he added.
The 45 km stretch of the highway will have an average width of 45 meters. The highway will have bypasses at Gurupura (5.5 km) and Moodabidri (7 km) to avoid busy city areas. A toll plaza may come up at Badagulipadi.
The construction work on the highway had been stalled fue to the delay in land acquisition. The land has been acquired in only 18 villages in Dakshina Kannda and two villages in Udupi where the highway passes through. In the rest of the villages, the process is still pending.
