The medical report had stated that the Shiroor seer had died a natural death.  There were no objections from his younger brother on the closure report filed by the district police, informed the SP.

Awareness drive against drugs consumption

The SP said that the district police conducted a two-month awareness drive against consumption of drugs in the district.

There is a rise in the number of cases booked under the NDPS Act. While the number of cases booked under this Act in 2016 was 11, it had increased to 47 in 2017, and to 91 this year. Evidently, the police are taking issues under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act seriously.

As many as 58 persons were arrested under the NDPS Act in the district, while 10 kg and 550 gm of ‘ganja’ had been seized in the district this year, informed the SP.

The police were not just arresting those who were in possession of drugs, but also taking action against those supplying the narcotic substances in the district.
