Mangaluru: The coastal region is experiencing a sharp rise in temperature, with extreme temperature fluctuations ranging from 32 degrees Celsius to 40.7 degrees Celsius. As a precautionary measure, the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mangaluru Range, has urged the public to inform the authorities in case of any fire in the forest areas.

The forest department has been receiving reports of forest fires caused by sparks from electricity wires and transformers. Sparks are ignited through wires. Often, people set fire to waste materials near the forest area, which only adds to the problem.

In the summer months, it is considered an offense to set fire everywhere, burst unnecessary firecrackers, smoke on the roadside, and set waste materials on fire. Small shopkeepers are also found to be collecting waste materials and setting them on fire, increasing the risk of fires.

The forest department has issued a release requesting the public to inform them immediately in case of any fire, be it a forest fire or a regular fire. Quick action can help prevent the spread of fires and protect the wildlife and forests of the region. The forest department has also appealed to the public to be mindful of their actions and avoid activities that could lead to fires.
