This year, marking the silver jubilee of his campaign, Vincent has embarked on his annual journey, which began last Thursday from his hometown Kokkada. Travelling through Uppinangady and Bantwal, he reached Mangaluru, where he has been visiting schools and colleges to entertain students while imparting a message of environmental protection. At some locations, he has also distributed Christmas cakes, adding sweetness to the festive atmosphere.
Inspired by Religious Leaders
Vincent’s journey as a Santa Claus began in 1994 when he dressed up as Santa at the local church during Christmas. However, it was a suggestion from then-parish priest Rev. Valerian Lewis of Kokkada Church that inspired him to take his act beyond the church. In 2000, he embarked on his first ride, travelling from Kokkada to Shiradi on his two-wheeler. Over the years, his reach and influence have grown significantly.

His two-wheeler, adorned with balloons and banners, carries powerful messages like “Say No to Plastic, Save the Environment,” “Live a Drug-Free Life,” and “Plant Trees, Preserve Nature for a Swachh Bharat.” By distributing sweets to children and the public, he shares joy while emphasizing the importance of sustainability and healthy living.
