In an announcement, JD(S) supreme H D Deve Gowda said that the party will move the High Court against the MLAs for challenging its whip in the election. The party’s candidate B M Farookh lost the election because of the cross-voting.

According to the statement “The whip, given by the JD(S), has been disregarded by the seven MLAs. A protestation was recorded with Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad against the MLAs. Till date, no action has been made against the officials. In such manner, we are compelled to make legal course of move,”

The party’s turn comes ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha election booked to be held on March 23. The MLAs, who have agreed with the Congress, are once more anticipated that would cast their votes for the third candidate. While the Congress has the numbers for serenely winning the initial two seats, it is counting on the rebel MLAs for winning the third seat.

The JD(S) now plans to diminish the Congress’ prospects through this legal response. The party, however ailing in numbers, has again handled Farook in the race.
