Vitla: Local youths rescue 55-yo bike accident victim from rivulet

Vitla: Local youths banded together and saved the life of a 55-year-old man who had fallen 40 feet into a rivulet at Kodangayi of Vitlapadnur village here on Saturday.

Harshavardhan Bhat, a resident of Mankude in Kolnad Village, was riding on a bike toward Vitla at 4 a.m. on Saturday. He fell 40 feet into the rivulet after the bike hit the crash guard of the Kodangayi bridge.

Locals who witnessed the incident started searching for the victim. they found a person screaming for help about 50 meters away from the bridge. The local youth jumped into the rivulet and pulled Bhat out of the water.

They also provided him with first aid and dropped him home in an auto.
